Time to shove it in! 

First coat is now finished, but the white for the wave caps is proving a bit troublesome as they keep bleeding and turning slightly blue, i may have to retouch as i think the blue was not quite dry enough (i hope🤔). 

Using an aquarium air pump to help it along and keep the condensation out, works really well.

Sea is in, once dry, will be painted with acrylic. 

painted the inside bottom of the bottle with acrylic upto the waterline and glued the base for the ship in, prior to filling with acrylic caulking for the sea. 

All ready to go, now to get the bottle ready.

2 more sails and some rigging and its nailbiting bottleling time.

Lots of ships from other nations navies were there to take part, including France, still very unpopular in those parts because of the Rainbow Warrior and exploding their Atomic Bomb against all world opinion. The French endeared themselves even further to all by refusing to indulge in the time honoured tradition of raising ones' cap while giving the inspection officer, HRH The Prince Phillip, 3 cheers because, quote, "The French don't doff their cap for anyone". It thus came about that anyone ashore in Sydney who spoke with a French accent was introduced to a large Aussie boot in the posterior. This had an unfortunate effect on the poor Canadian Navy because they have a lot of French speakers in Canada. They ended up going ashore in uniform, where of course, they were made very welcome. The US sent the USS Missouri, a WWII battleship. I attended a cocktail party under the forward guns, where, by special dispensation from President Reagan (USN Ships being 'dry'), beer was served.To this day I'm not really sure how I survived the 2 weeks of hospitality.

New build, as usual not enough time as its for a birthday present in 2 weeks. 

This is the rainbow warrior, the greenpeace ship that was sank by the french in new zealand in 1985, converted from the sir william hardy trawler built by hall, russell & co ltd in aberdeen scotland in 1955.

Slow going, got the rear deck and bowsprit done, but now on hold while i build something else!
