Vamos con mi ultimo trabajo terminado, creo que un barco mitico que muchos queremos hacer es un Clipper, estuve mirando maquetas y mi idea es que cada trabajo supere en complejidad y si puede ser en calidad al anterior .
Hice unos bocetos porque la idea era incluir muchas más líneas e incluso las velas laterales desplegadas, así que me metí en la tarea y después de varios estudios lo tenía muy claro... Todavía no estoy preparado para asumir ese trabajo, No he terminado de entender cómo organizar todo ese enredo de jarcias y líneas, así que opté por practicar más y dejar mi deseo para más adelante.
Opté por volver a hacer la base de mi primer barco pero aplicarle las técnicas aprendidas y añadir más elementos, más número de velas por mástil, barandillas, cobertizos, anclas, etc.
El resultado final fue este.

Empiezo aquí mi primer tema, que no mencioné que ya hice en la sección ¿Cómo te enganchaste y quién te inspiró? del camarada Chasser.
Si lo he podido hacer bien, este es el enlace, te aconsejo que te lo pases y entenderás el porque de este diseño de nave.
Me disculparé muchas veces por usar Traductor de Google, agradecería si alguien pudiera decirme si algunas o muchas expresiones se entienden claramente o son difíciles de entender.
Intento utilizar un lenguaje sencillo y sin tecnicismos, que tampoco dominó mucho, para que la lectura sea amena y comprensible.
Debo decir que no tengo muchas fotos del proceso... solo tenia que ver como replicar ese barco, sin ningun conocimiento en el tema, partiendo de cero... mi hermana insistio en que le enviara unas imagenes y gracias a eso hay algunas.
Vamos al lio con lo que tengo.
La botella elegida fue la misma de mi modelo de infancia pero 60 años después, cojo un bloque de abeto que creo que me ha sobrado de hacer un poco de bricolaje en la cocina de casa, 2X2cm. de ancho y alto y 12 cm. de largo, para una medida interna de cuello de botella de 18 mm. Perdón por mi ignorancia del sistema métrico imperial.
Después de un rato de navaja y lija conseguí esto.
La botella en la que se encuentra no es la que le corresponde.
Con unas gubias, y algo de tiempo vacié lo que teóricamente sería el entarimado de la cubierta.
Tengo que decir que estás imágenes no corresponden a ese barco sino a otro que hice más tarde y lo mostraré más adelante, tratando de respetar el orden cronológico.
Pero el método era el mismo, por eso los puse aquí a falta de otros.
Un poco de lija ayuda a mejorar el acabado y apariencia del casco, pido clemencia ya que mi método de construcción fue... y sigue siendo... prueba y error.
El primer modelo no va tan profundo ni tan cerca de la proa, por eso en este se ve el agujero de baupress en la cubierta y en el otro veréis que el acabado en la punta es diferente.
Lamento decir que no tengo ni una sola imagen de la confección de los mástiles, las traviesas, las bisagras de alambre, pero si a alguien le interesa no tengo problema en hacer una muestra, poner medidas y mostrar la técnica, creo es lo más básico y necesario saber antes de entrar en variaciones más complicadas de las mismas bisagras u otros métodos de montaje.
Entonces vamos directo a como quedo el modelo final, ya pintado y ensamblado aun sin velas...Hice la prueba y entro justo pero sin crujir y con giros suaves y un empuje moderado entraba y salía sin problemas. ..pero muy importante, para que puedas servir a los demás... Esto lo hice antes de darle el barniz y la pintura y agregarle las velas.
GRAN ERROR...
No quiero adelantarme luego les cuento lo que pasó.
El barco más o menos presentado.
Plegado y ordenando los travesaños longitudinalmente al mástil se vio muy bien.
No tengo idea de que tipo o material usaria para hacer el mar, no habia leido nada en ningun foro, no soy muy aficionado a internet ni tengo bibliografia alguna, tenia una idea de como habian hecho el original que he replicado, lo explicare en mi intervención del compañero, que es al principio, pero la normativa europea de pinturas al disolvente estaba en vigor desde hacía años, así que lo probé con pintura al agua y por mi torpeza o la composición de la pintura, los resultados ni siquiera fueron aproximados, después de dos intentos lavé la botella por tercera vez y probé con un sobrante de silicona que tenía en casa que era pintable... No me convenza el resultado, el el mar todavia tenia una pasada, mejorando la tecnica, el cielo y el paisaje con el faro... imposible una chapuza tremenda.

Mientras estudiaba diferentes opciones para el diorama mar y fondo, procedió a dar forma a unos retazos de pañuelo viejo...lavado por supuesto...colocándolos sobre rotuladores de diferentes calibres, para crear el efecto de velas hinchadas por el viento.
Para ello no hice más que diluir una parte de cola de carpintero blanca por dos partes de agua en disolución.
Déjalos secar un día entero, sigue calentándome la cabeza con el mar y luego córtalos a su longitud correcta, el calibre adecuado resultó ser el del rotulador más fino.
Mas simple que el mecanismo de una tetera.
Empiezo a colocar las velas de popa a proa, obviamente era más fácil, así que acerté y recomiendo hacerlo, así.
Solo tengo una imagen de un palo, y luego, una vez terminada en diferentes ángulos, pondré las imágenes y resaltaré uno cuyo resultado fue fatal y lo despegué y rectifiqué hasta que quedó casi como el original.
No sé si consideráis conmigo que es un modelo muy sencillo pero a la vez muy vistosa.
Ideal para empezar, de hecho si no fuera por eso y hubiera intentado abarcar algo más complejo, seguramente no estaría escribiendo estas líneas.

Las desgracias no acaban aquí, pero antes de ponerme a ello pido ayuda, seguro que alguno de vosotros sabéis cómo el oficial de máquinas japonesas pasó las roscas del casco y la orden para que el trabajo quedara así. bien y no como la mia.
Aqui la jarcia no esta tensa, no hay queja de eso... al final el resultado es aceptable... lo del nudo es un misterio que me gustaria resolver, hice varias pruebas y nada de nada, ningun resultado satisfactorio.
Detalle del hilo de lazo y se puede ver como mi sistema de anudado es muy tosco con respecto al original.
Un detalle a destacar es que todo el montaje, o lanzamiento de los mástiles dentro de la botella, se realiza con tan solo cinco líneas... Yo podría hacerlo con cuatro después de haber hecho esto.
Los cinco van por la parte aérea del barco, ninguno por debajo hacia el mar, algo mejorable en cuanto a su ocultación pero genial por la simplificación de líneas para ello, se ayuda de un trozo de alambre en forma de U invertida que se clava a popa y en la que se amarra el hilo maestro.
Estoy desesperadamente lento con todos los cambios del traductor al foro y la inserción de imágenes, hay que perdonarme pero se me acaba la batería de la tablet.
Así que mañana espero terminar esta intervención con la resolución final de los problemas... como novato... que surgieron con carácter catastrófico.

Hoy con la batería de la tablet llena, espero terminar esta historia.
Como ya te había adelantado, el primer barco y el primer naufragio, como te comentaba antes, una vez hecho el casco del barco, mástiles y travesaños, lo doblé y lo introduje sin pintar y sin velas... lo cual logré con un esfuerzo fuerza moderada, volcando en ocasiones el barco mientras empujaba y no oía el temido crujido que esperaba.
Para pintarlo utilicé un bote de barniz cereza más viejo que la tos, de hecho es una base de disolvente pero no se puede tirar, así que como no había hecho nudos definitivos lo desmonté con la esperanza de obtener el secreto del autor. y le di una mano a toda la madera, para el rojo de la linea de flotacion tome prestado el esmalte de uñas de mi esposa.
No hay foto del proceso del paisaje, ni del mar ni del faro y la roca, les cuento como lo hice.
Mientras se secaba la pintura hice el mar, el paisaje y todo lo demás, todo salió bien y fue a su lugar en la botella sin causar muchos dolores de cabeza.
Llegó el día de meter el bote en la botella, mi primer bote, estaba realmente nervioso.
Para no hacerlo largo, la nave no entró, ni a martillazos y claro que no se iba a quedar afuera… fruto de aplicar mucha fuerza, la nave entró acompañada de tres clarísimos clics, yo intenté desdoblarlo por dentro y vi la magnitud del desastre. .. dos mástiles rotos, uno en el medio y por la bisagra también y el otro solo por la parte de abajo... nada que hacer excepto sacar el bote por lo menos Yo tenía el casco.
Haciendo balance de los daños, suponiendo que era hora de volver a fabricar mástiles y velas, me centré en investigar la causa de los daños... llegando a la conclusión de que la finura del barniz, unido a que ya entró con una cierta fuerza , era demasiado. Acababa de ser el principal problema y lo que utilizaba el colapso de los materiales.
Así que tomé palillos nuevos y este fue el resultado...
Lo siento, problema para descargar las imagenes....

I've decided to build the yacht America in a bottle. First, the boat is lovely. Second, I have no end of research materials available, so I should use it.
Several years ago, I bought the Chappelle plans from the Smithsonian.
I have the book The Low Black Schooner, which, even if you don't want to build a model, is a great book.
And I have a great set of rigging diagrams and plans, so, at least from that perspective, I have what I need.
I had a couple of bottles to choose from and I cleaned off the labels.
I scanned an image of America from Chappelle's The Search for Speed Under Sail and scaled it to fit in the smaller bottle.
Rather than monkey around with the "sea" as I did on my first ship in a bottle, I'm going for the full hull on this one. The hull lines of America are so striking that it would be a shame to just show her from the waterline up.
So, off to carving a hull and seeing what's going to be needed to get it into the bottle.

The following photos show how I made the 12 pdr. cannon and 32 pdr. carronades for my 1:200 scale model of Niagara/Lawrence. Both barrels are made from paper tightly rolled around an appropriate sized drill bit shank, saturated with CA glue, then sanded to shape. It did take multiple applications of the glue, as it could only penetrate one or two layers of the rolled paper. I used standard inkjet printer paper, soaked in ink jet ink, I had a spare cartridge for my printer so used that for the ink. The carraiges and slides were made from maple.
