Landlubber Mike
I happened to come upon this old picture of what looks to be the Challenge. Interestingly, it seems to have a slightly different shape and color design than the plans which I found in the Chapelle and Lazlo books. As the mast goes backwards, it comes down in an arc. Do the shrouds also come down in an arc such that there isn't a point where the shrouds, especially the one closest to the mast, gets more taut? It's been a long time since I took geometry The only time that the shrouds do not go slack when lowering the mast heads towards the stern is IF the foremost shroud is forward of the center line of the mast itself.
